A grant of $10,000 was awarded from national funding sources to expand the Camp's youth scholarship program for new campers ages 7-15 to Onyahsa's resident camp program. This "sleep-away" program offers weekly sessions Sunday afternoons through Saturday mornings. Campers from varied backgrounds and circumstances enjoy traditional outdoors activities, including boating, swimming, hiking, crafts, archery, sports, campfires, challenge course and many more. The program is in its 117th year and is accredited by the American Camp Association. Administration Director Itza Morales, who coordinates the Camp Scholarship Program, stated, "This grant offers a great opportunity for those campers who do not meet the residency requirements for some of our local funds to attend Onyahsa for little to no cost."

Onyahsa also received $90,000 from the YMCA of the USA's Strategic Initiatives Fund to add restrooms and to winterize a double cabin.

Thanks to this funding, which matched local contributions, a main lodge at the Camp will receive a foundation, heat, insulation and six individual bathrooms.

Work will begin in September, and once completed this lodge will expand the Camp's "cold-weather" lodging capacity by 20 participants. Coupled with other major projects, Onyahsa will significantly increase its year-round offerings for children, families and groups. Camp Director Jon O'Brian noted, "Area not-for-profits rely heavily on local funding, and it is wonderful to access funding from outside our locale to benefit our youth, families and community for decades to come through this Capital Access grant."
